Welcome to the Scripps College Writing Center!

The Scripps Writing Center, located in in Humanities 231, provides one-on-one writing support with experienced peer tutors.  We welcome any student at any level, studying any discipline, working on any assignment, at any stage of the writing process, from a first-year student brainstorming on a first essay to a senior finishing a thesis, in sessions averaging about thirty minutes.

The Writing Center is open!

The Writing Center will be closed for Thanksgiving Break from Wednesday, November 27 through Sunday, December 1

During the semester, the Writing Center is open on Sundays from 7-9pm, Mondays-Thursdays from 4-6pm and 7-9pm, and Fridays from 10am-noon. Note: If you have a longer project, you can book two half-hour appointments in a row with the same tutor.

If you make an appointment, we will do out best to keep your time assigned tutor, but due to tutor availability, changes may occur. If you miss your appointment three times, you will not be able to make an appointment until next semester. You may still come for drop-ins anytime we are open!

If you are unable to come to the Writing Center, please make an appointment and request a Zoom appointment; your tutor will send you an email at or before the time of the appointment to let you know how to connect on Zoom.

Scripps students interested in a Thesis Buddy or a Core Buddy (a weekly or biweekly meeting with the same tutor), please email Writing Center Director, Professor Glenn Simshaw

Multilingual students and students working on fellowship statements or graduate school applications can also book an appointment with Writing Associates & Core Faculty Pam Bromley & Adam Novy here: https://calendly.com/scrippswriting

If you are a 5C student taking a Scripps class, you are welcome to use the Scripps Writing Center! Technical issues mean you are unable to book an appointment. Simply come by when the Center is open for a drop-in session.

We look forward to working with you on your writing project!
